These are some of the most dramatic small-scale projects we’ve ever seen. Below are before and after photos. The existing covered porch had a flat roof that had to be removed as part of the addition.
The Competed Project
The new Sun Room boasts a breathtaking waterfront view encompassing Sykes Creek and Ulumay Park. We completely demolished the old porch’s roof, columns, and knee wall, retaining almost nothing. The new slab was poured over the old slab, creating a four-inch cap. AD&D designed a conventionally framed roof with a load-bearing ridge beam to maximize the space and evoke a nostalgic old Florida feel. We particularly love the knotty pine ceiling and the seamless integration to the pool area through the triple slider.
