AD&D designed this large scale remodel for a local business owner in 2011.

The original home was a somewhat typical central Florida Ranch House with 8 foot ceilings, and a claustrophobic feel on the inside.
The final result with it’s cupola, vaulted ceilings, open central living area, and beautiful details is breathtaking.

Before & After

When looking at the drastically different materials, layout, and structure of the new home,
It’s almost hard to believe that it’s the same house.

One of our favorite things about designing homes in the Merritt Island/Cocoa Beach area,
is the ability to pull-off a Tropical/Caribbean design scheme; due to the
zone 10a-10b Palms & Plants that can be grown on the Barrier Islands.

AD&D designed the huge gable window using a store front glass system

which you don’t typically see in a residential setting in Florida.

Using a parallel cord truss for the central section of the roof
gives the illusion of a conventionally framed roof.
The advantage of this set-up is that it allows the gable windows to be installed at the same angle as the roof.
This would not have been possible with a scissor truss.

While we can’t take credit for the client’s fantastic choice of transparent cabinet doors, lighting, back-splash, and appliances,
we love how they are complimented by the vaulted ceiling and open layout of the kitchen.
